Streamline Composite Design with Zone-Based Plies and Cores in Creo

Creo now introduces Zone-Based Design, allowing you to create zone-based plies and cores efficiently. This feature enables you to define conceptual zone regions on the layup surface and create zone stack recipes that include local laminate definitions.

By combining zones with zone stack recipes and rosettes, the Plies From Zones tool can automatically generate zone-based plies and cores. Any changes made to the boundary of a zone will automatically update the boundaries of the associated plies and cores.

Creo Parametric 11.0.0.0

User Interface Location: In the Composite Design environment, do the following:

•Click  Ply. Under Type, select  Zone Based Ply.

•Use the following commands in the Zones group:

 Laminate Zone

 Zone Stacks

 Plies From Zones

Key Enhancements:

  • Conceptual Zone Regions:
    • Define zones on the layup surface for better composite design organization.
  • Zone Stack Recipes:
    • Create recipes that include local laminate definitions for improved stack management.
  • Automatic Creation of Plies and Cores:
    • Combine zones with zone stack recipes and rosettes to automatically create the required plies and cores.
  • Dynamic Updates:
    • Modify the boundary of a zone and automatically update the zone-based plies and cores.

Benefits:

  • Simplify the process of creating top-down composite designs using zones and zone stacks.
  • Improve design efficiency and accuracy with automatic updates and better organization.

Additional Information:

  • Limitations: No known limitations.
  • Does This Replace Existing Functionality? No, it adds new capabilities.
  • Configuration Options: None required.
