Description
With this enhancement, you can now create conformal cooling channels in mold cavities. Unlike conventional cooling channels that are straight and drilled into the mold, conformal cooling channels closely follow the shape of the part being molded. This allows for more uniform cooling, resulting in improved part quality.

Conventional Cooling Channels

Conformal Cooling Channels

The Conformal Cooling command enables you to create the following two types of conformal cooling channels:
Project—Creates a cooling channel by projecting the curves at a specified offset distance from the reference surfaces.
Spiral—Creates a spiral cooling channel based on a pitch between the start and end planes at a specified offset distance from the reference surfaces.

The command enables the creation of cooling channels with multiple cross-section profiles, including Circle, Half Circle, Tear Drop, Ellipse, and Hexagon, providing greater design flexibility.

It also enables the automatic creation of a counterbore with different cross-sections on the inlet and outlet locations.

Benefits
This enhancement provides the following benefits:

  • Enables uniform cooling of molds
  • Leverages additive manufacturing
  • Consistent with Mold Design workflows
