Creo Parametric 12.4.0.0
User Interface Location: Model > Datum > Reference
See the video on the Learning Connector
Description
With this enhancement, the handling of selected surface regions has been improved by automatically upgrading them to their parent surfaces whenever possible. This behavior simplifies surface selection and reduces the need for manual re-selection.
The enhancements include:
- Enhanced regeneration of the surface sets when all surface regions of a surface are included in the selection set.
- In the Datum Reference feature, selected surface regions are now upgraded to surfaces when all regions of a surface are included in the selection set. Previously, surface regions could only be used by the Flexible Modeling features and the Datum Reference feature. With this enhancement, upgrading surface regions to surfaces makes the surface collection eligible for a broader range of features.
- In the Datum Reference feature, a geometry check is created if a selection set contains surface regions that cannot be upgraded.
- In Flexible Modeling feature collectors, the surface regions are upgraded to surfaces for all single region surfaces.
Surface region upgrade to surfaces is shown in the following image.

Benefits
This improvement increases productivity for workflows that rely on tangent surface selection, such as creating semantic references for Model-Based Definition.
