Release: Creo Parametric 9.0.0.0

What is the Benefit of This Enhancement?

When adding or editing a surface finish in a model or drawing, a dedicated tab appears with all the necessary commands for customizing that surface finish. Various placement options are provided, along with an instant preview in the graphics area. The Repeat Mode command enables the placement of multiple surface finishes in one action, streamlining the process.

This enhancement improves the placement and editing of surface finishes, aligning the workflow with other annotation types for better consistency. It offers immediate previews, consolidated placement options, faster placement with repeat mode, and easier customization.

By default, the surface finish placement is automatic, depending on the selected reference type (leader, free, or offset) and whether you are working in the model or drawing environment.

Note: The offset reference type is available only in Drawing mode. Additional placement options are accessible via the shortcut menu when adding a surface finish.

Configuration Option attach_last_surf_fin_to_cursor :
The configuration option attach_last_surf_fin_to_cursor determines whether the last placed surface finish is attached to the cursor when placing a new surface finish.

Values: yes*/no

This option is helpful if you want to prevent automatic selection of surface finish instances during new placements or if you prefer to attach the last placed surface finish, saving time by avoiding the need to browse for it again.

Configuration Option allow_color_change_for_symbols :
The configuration option allow_color_change_for_symbols controls whether the color command is enabled for symbols and surface finishes placed on a model or drawing. This option can be added to the config.pro or config.sup file.

Values: yes*/no

Originally introduced for symbols in Creo Parametric 8.0.0.0, this option is now extended to surface finishes.

This configuration is particularly useful for CAD administrators who want to enforce company policies regarding the colors of symbols and surface finish instances.

Configuration Option surface_finish_repeat_mode :
The new configuration option surface_finish_repeat_mode defines the default behavior for the repeat mode of a surface finish.

Values: yes/no*

This option is helpful when placing multiple surface finish instances and you want the Repeat Mode command to be activated by default. The Repeat Mode command allows you to place additional surface finishes without having to click the Surface Finish command each time.

Configuration Option surface_finish_free_with_leader :

The new configuration option surface_finish_free_with_leader determines whether the With Leader-Free Point placement option appears on the shortcut menu when placing surface finish instances in Drawing mode.

Values: yes/no*

This option is available only for surface finish instances that have the leader attribute defined.
