Creo now enables you to replace a component with an existing copy or a newer version of the same component. This functionality works seamlessly for both parts and assemblies, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual effort.
User Interface Location:
•In an assembly, click Operations > Replace.
•In the Model Tree, select a component and click Replace on the mini toolbar.

What’s the Benefit of This Enhancement?
This update simplifies the process of replacing components in assemblies, offering the following advantages:
- External child references are automatically updated, eliminating the need for manual adjustments.
- Whether it’s a newer version or an existing copy of a part or assembly, the replacement process is now smooth and intuitive.
In earlier versions, replacing a component with an existing copy required manual updates to maintain references. With this enhancement, the process is automated, saving time and improving accuracy.
Additional Information:
- Limitations: It is not possible to replace a family table instance with an existing copy.
- Replacement of Existing Functionality: No.
- Configuration Options: None required.
