Creo 10.0 introduces enhanced flexibility in Dimension Patterns, especially for nested patterns, such as Pattern of Patterns. This improvement allows the outer pattern to dynamically control the number of members in the inner pattern, making it easier to handle incremental changes.
When creating a Dimension Pattern of a base (inner) pattern, you can now select inner pattern member dimensions as the increment-direction dimension. This means the outer pattern can directly adjust and increment the number of members in the nested pattern.
- Default Increment: 1 (can be set to any positive number, including 0).
- Behavior: Real values are truncated to integers, with a minimum value of 1 for pattern members.
- Relations: Pattern member dimensions can now be controlled by relations for advanced flexibility.
Additionally, a general limitation from previous versions has been removed—you can now set the number of pattern members to 1.
Incremental increase of Pattern instances

•Pattern instance count driven by relation

•Pattern instance count driven by graph

Benefits
This enhancement significantly improves design productivity and usability when working with models containing nested Dimension and Reference Patterns. Previously, achieving a Pattern of Patterns with varying member counts often required complex setups or workarounds, such as table patterns.
Key advantages include:
- The increment (idx) dimension can now be the driving dimension for nested pattern members.
- Members dimension is selectable for precise control.
- The smallest evaluated pattern member value is enforced as 1.
- Relations, including graph-based evaluations, can define pattern member dimensions.
- The ability to set the number of pattern members to 1 enables more flexible and efficient designs.
Additional Information
- Limitations: None reported.
- Replacement of Existing Functionality: No.
- Configuration Option: None required.
This enhancement streamlines workflows, reduces complexity, and provides greater control when managing nested patterns in your designs.
