In the past, objects in contact were treated as bonded contacts by default. With the latest update, Creo Simulation Live allows you to define contacts between surfaces as Free, Bonded, or No Separation. The “No Separation” contact type is used for defining surfaces in contact, while the “Free” setting ensures that touching surfaces behave as if they are not in contact. To incorporate a specific contact type in your simulation study, you must explicitly define it, as all contacts within the model are assumed to be bonded unless otherwise specified.

Creo Parametric 10.0.0.0

User Interface Location: Click Live Simulation > Contact.

Benefits:

  • Provides more accurate solutions for simulations where contact is a crucial factor
  • Ability to define free surfaces when they are in contact
  • Contact stresses can now be reported for improved analysis

Additional Information:

  • Limitations: No known limitations.
  • Does this replace existing functionality? No.
  • Configuration option associated with this functionality: The simlive_contact_detect_inactive option controls how automatic contact creation is handled in inactive studies.
