New features have been introduced to enhance the usability of cross-section hatching in drawings, offering more control and flexibility when working with hatching operations.
Release: Creo Parametric 9.0.0.0
What’s the Benefit of This Enhancement?
Usability Features for Cross-Section Hatching
Gain greater control over cross-section hatching operations in drawings with these new enhancements:
- Improved boundary outline for cross-section hatching views
- A new contextual user interface for editing hatching properties
- A gallery for viewing hatch patterns
- Specialized hatching operations for updating hatching properties
- Enhanced search tool queries for better support
- New shortcut menu options for editing hatching properties
Improved Boundary Outline for Cross-Section Hatching Views in Drawings
User Interface Location: Select a hatched section, area, component, or body.
The boundary outline of selected hatched sections, areas, components, or bodies in drawing views has been improved. In this update, the boundary outline of hatched items in a cross-section view is now thicker, providing better visibility compared to previous versions of Creo Parametric. This enhancement makes it easier to identify and focus on the selected hatched item during editing.

New User Interface for Editing Cross-Section Hatching Properties in Drawings
User Interface Location: In a cross-section view, select any hatched item. The Edit Hatching tab appears.
A new Edit Hatching tab appears when you select a hatched cross-section in a section view. This tab provides options to select and modify the hatching pattern of sections, components, bodies, or areas. The enhancement streamlines the process of editing cross-section hatching properties, making it faster and more efficient.

Hatch Patterns Gallery
User Interface Location: Select a hatched cross-section, and then, click Hatch Gallery in the Edit Hatching tab.

The new hatch gallery displays all available hatch patterns in a single view, allowing you to quickly preview and select the desired pattern. This enhancement speeds up the process of applying specific hatch patterns to components in cross-section views, saving you time and effort.
Special Hatching Operations for Updating Hatching Properties
User Interface Location: Edit Hatching tab.

New options for updating hatching properties include:
- Copy Hatch: Copies hatch properties between different cross-section views or specific hatched items.
- Use Material Hatch: Applies the hatching pattern assigned to the material of the selected items.
- Use a Solid Hatch: Replaces the hatching pattern with a solid color for the selected items.
- Use Model Hatch: Copies the hatching pattern from the model’s hatching definition to the corresponding drawing.
- Convert to PAT: Converts the selected pattern from XCH format to PAT format.
These new operations allow you to use existing hatch patterns, reducing the need for manual adjustments and saving time when updating hatching properties.
Search Tool Support for Hatched Items
User Interface Location: Click on the status bar or go to Tools > Find.
New queries have been added to the search tool to help locate hatching information for various object types in a drawing. You can now search for hatched items by name, expression, or one of their hatching properties. The new queries include:
- Hatched Area, Hatched Body, or Hatched Component: Find the respective hatched object types in cross-section views of the active drawing.
- Draft Hatch: Locate hatches drafted directly in the drawing.
- Hatching Property for Sketches: Find all sketches that include hatching in their model definition.
These updated search tool queries and attributes make it easier to locate hatching and rule-based information about hatched items in the drawing.

Contextual Shortcut Menu Options for Controlling Hatching Properties
User Interface Location: User Interface Location: Select a hatched section, area, component, or body and use the mini-toolbar or the right-click menu.

A new mini toolbar and right-click menu are now available for hatching operations, allowing you to quickly update hatching properties without needing to access the ribbon.
Additional Information
