General Profile Tolerance (GPT) with semantic information is now available in Creo, marking a significant enhancement. Previously, GPT was represented only as a simple note with no reflection of its properties in its parameters. Now, GPT created using GD&T Advisor is represented as a full geometrical tolerance annotation type, conveying all its properties to its parameters. This enhancement ensures that model surfaces associated with the general profile tolerance are now added as semantic references to the annotation, providing a more accurate and complete Model-Based Definition (MBD).

Additionally, the semantic references associated with GPT are automatically updated with every model change when the GD&T Advisor is active. If the GD&T Advisor is not running, manual updates can be done by activating the GD&T Advisor and validating annotations. The updates are automatically enabled by default through the “Auto-update_Gen_Prof_Refs” option in GDTAAppOptions.xml.

Creo Parametric 10.0.0.0

User Interface Location: GD&T Advisor ribbon.

Benefits:

  • GPT now includes all relevant semantic references from the model, ensuring a true representation of the MBD state for downstream use.

Additional Information:

  • Limitations: No known limitations.
  • Does this replace existing functionality?: No.
  • Configuration Option: In case of very large models, updating semantic references may take longer. To control automatic updates, you can adjust the “Auto-update_Gen_Prof_Refs” tag in GDTAAppOptions.xml. If set to “no,” references can be manually updated by selecting Operations > Update General Profile References.
