Creo Parametric introduces a new “From Pattern” reference option for Point-type patterns, significantly enhancing flexibility in defining point patterns. This new option allows you to base a point pattern on:
- Point patterns
- Coordinate system patterns
- A combination of points or coordinate systems

When the patterned geometry does not depend on the leader point or coordinate system, using the leader as an alternate origin can be beneficial. For example, in body patterns, coordinate system references allow you to control the location and orientation of bodies through the coordinate systems that are referenced via the new “From Pattern” option.
This enhancement not only offers increased design flexibility but also improves pattern regeneration speed. The Point Pattern type within Geometry Patterns now supports a full range of regeneration options (Identical, Variable, General), optimizing pattern performance when applicable.
Creo Parametric 11.0.0.0
User Interface Location: Click any of the following:
•Model > Pattern
•Model > Pattern > Geometry Pattern
•Flexible Modeling > Flexible Pattern
Under Type, select Point. Under Settings, select From Pattern.

Benefits:
- Increased design flexibility for patterns that reference points or coordinate systems.
- Simplified creation of body patterns by referencing a pattern of coordinate systems.
Additional Information:
- Limitations: A pattern under an External Inheritance feature cannot be selected as a reference during the creation of a point pattern with reference to a pattern of points or coordinate systems.
- Does this replace existing functionality? No.
- Configuration option associated with this functionality: None.
