User Interface Location:

  1. Click Tools > Family Table. The Family Table dialog box opens.
  2. Select an instance name.
  3. Click Edit > Copy Instance to Generic.

Description
In Family Tables, the Copy Instance to Generic functionality has been enhanced for both parts and assemblies. When copying an instance that contains suppressed features, you can now choose whether to suppress or delete those features in the generic definition.

The Copy Instance to Generic command now also supports Groups, Merge Part, and Reference Model. In addition, an option is available to retrieve the required reference model into the session, allowing the instance definition to be assigned to the generic.

These enhancements remove earlier limitations when using Copy Instance to Generic with instances that included suppressed features.

Benefits

  • Improves productivity.
  • Enhances flexibility and supports a broader range of use cases when working with part and assembly Family Tables.
